Legislative Initiative on RA State Border Endorsed at Sitting of RA NA Standing Committee

At July 30 extraordinary sitting, the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security, moderated by Andranik Kocharyan, debated in the second reading the legislative package on Making Addendum to the Law on State Border and on Amending the RA Code on Administrative Offenses authored by the Government. It restricts the activity of persons entering the border zone, as well as it is forbidden to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) on the border zone without appropriate permission, to take video and photo on the territory of the bordering state, the engineering structures and barriers deployed on the border zone, buildings being used by the border troops, constructions, watchtowers and modes of transportations. According to the NSS Deputy Director Stepan Melqonyan, the violation of the rules for entering the border zone or being there, residing and registering causes a warning or sets a fine in the amount of one hundred times of the minimum wage by the second draft.

The NA deputy Arman Khachatryan stressed the importance of the draft laws and called on his colleagues to vote for it.

The Committee members endorsed the legislative package.
